My honda accord'97 refuses to start due to lack of power supply to the engine.Do i change the brainbox?

The problem is, it refuses to start in the mornings and after two atempts and it started and worked thru out,it has not started at all on the 3rd morning.I changed alternator belt the 1st time and it started but i guess the issue as comfirmed by my mechanic and electrician is that power is not being supplied to the engine.Water dripped under my left dashboard and some of it got into the brainbox.Again someone suggested the security device i installed in my car was responsible but after disabling it, the problem is still there.

look for corroded electrical connectors on the brainbox and have the car hooked up to an OBDII code reader to see what the errors are.

My 97 accord is doing the same thing.

I myself checked my alternator and it was fine.

all of my grounds were fried but it ended up doing it again after i replaced them.

My only conclusion left is the starter solenoid.

I have yet to replace it but it is the only part left that i have yet to pull it out and replace it, but all of the testing i have done points to the starter.



P.S. there are no OBDII codes for a faulty starter

at the least get another computer off of ebay and install it. it just plugs in and fix the leak. if it doesn't help than take it to a Honda dealer and ask for many electrical tests. power from battery goes to your key. your key completes the circuit to your starter. your starter turns over your engine. there is a break in the circuit. it maybe a simpler problem than your computer. do the easy repairs first.

the brain box that you called it , it is actually on the passenger side . the left side is usually your fuse box . yes , if the security unit is installed and certain areas that they drilled into are not properly insulated . you can get moisture inside . ask yourself , did it do this before you had the security put in??

Hello everyone. I changed my alternator this morning and now my turning signals are not working nor the emergency lights, but what is so weird about it is that the Button for the emergency lights is red and it stays red which maybe means that there is current. I don't know :) and also the trunk won't open when I press the button. Please if you know what is wrong with it please, please let me know. Thanks!!

you either blew a fuse or the relay is shot. try replacing the fuse first with the correct amp fuse. if that doesn't work change the relay. If that doesn't work have a mechanic check the switch on the steering column.

Make sure that you have the battery connections on tight, and that you didn't leave a wire off.



Then replace the fuse that is blown. As if you didn't disconnect the battery first before you changed the alternator you probably blew a fuse.

On many Hondas what you need to do is remove the motor mount, and jack the engine up to access the alternator. Sometimes, the only access is from underneath, and you will have to put the car in the air on a hoist. Good Luck!!!

That is not a good idea to do with the CS style alternator that your car has on it. You can actually overheat the alternator doing this. If the battery is discharged that alternator is not designed to charge the battery up from discharged, it is designed to maintain a charge in the battery from the slight discharge it gets from starting etc. If you haven't burned the new alternator up charging the battery than you are in luck and you need to hook the battery up to a battery charger and charge it. This is assuming that the battery is still good. You may need to have it tested to see what kind of condition your batter is in. Good Luck!

Chances are you have a bad cell in your battery, Take it to your local parts store like Advance Auto or Pep Boys and they will test it for free for your.

I got some electrical problems on my car and it looks to be the alternator.....how much is it going to cost me to have it changed by a Chrysler dealer????

I am a certified chrysler seal tech %26amp; would say it is very unlikely the alternator, 6 years with chrysler %26amp; never had 1 bad alternator, just a big problem with chrysler unlike gm cars. I am not sure what your electrical problems are but those cars are famous for the battery %26amp; cables corroiding really bad %26amp; hard to see unless you remove the air cleaner assembly. I would check that first.
